Julie Haluzová (b. 1981) was born in Morava in Czech Republic, but has lived in Bratislava, Slovak Republic for 15 years. She creates art works in Bratislava. After graduation from Secondary School of Fine Arts and Handicrafts in Uherské Hradiště, she furthered her studies in sculpture with Professor Jan Hoffstädter, and painting with Professor Ivan Csudai, at the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Bratislava.
At the moment, she focuses mostly on figurative painting using the technique of acrylic paint on canvas, within which she often connects intuitive and even abstract painting with the elements of watercolour technique. In her works, the first layer may look like abstract irregular stains painted randomly. However, the following layer shifts the painting back into the real world, namely by depicting figures, objects, everyday life facts with the sense for a detail. They are often objects taken out of their original context, which imports into the picture a different or new meaning. So the result can sometimes remind us of a collage. Subjects of her paintings are most frequently metaphors of human qualities and vices which are perceived by the painter with a kind irony and visual character intelligible for everybody. Also, themes of nature motifs represent an integral part of her works.
Julie Haluzová is the author of the famous painting “Seven yellow tulips” currently on exposition in the hotel Kempinski in High Tatra Mountains.
The exhibition is open to the public every Thursday from 11am till 7 pm or any other day on demand (mobile: +421 902 479 707).
